For 10 years the Vaio brand in Europe, Sony unveils three new lines of laptops in design and slightly modified for professionals: BZ (15.4 inches), SR (13.3 inches) and Z series.

Sony redefines the role of its Vaio computers for professionals, unveils three new lines of machines that will soon be marketed in Europe.

First, computers ultraportables of the SZ series, which enjoyed a 13.3-inch LED screen and a very comfortable keyboard disappear. These high-end computers cede their place to effect the new series SR and Z.

The computers range SR retain a screen size identical to the old models SZ. They enjoy the same display technology X-Black LCD with LED. In addition, they show a total weight, according to the manufacturer, 1.9 kg, or 100 grams less than the maximum limit to qualify for the appellation of ultraportable.

Without more information, it is stated that the processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo. The onboard memory totals about it to 4 GB Some versions will also have a graphics card ATI Mobility Radeon HD3470. Sony announced a comfortable endurance of up to 5 hours.

Finally, the selling price of the SR series start at 1300 € (Release scheduled for late July), while the most advanced model - with dedicated graphics card, 250GB hard drive and Windows Vista - expected to cost about him about 1500 €.

The Vaio BZ for employees rather sedentary
“The BZ series should in turn attract employees not travelling, which run office to office.” In addition, the Vaio BZ should also be of interest “sales forces who wish to conduct presentations on the big screen,” said Nguyen Tuyet, the head of Vaio Europe.

For the weight, this range of Vaio reached 2.7 kg, while the maximum amounts in theory to 3.5 hours. Finally, the price starts at 1,000 euros to reach a maximum of 1,350 euros. Its availability in turn is scheduled for the end of July 2008.

series Z high-end

The high-end status is now supported by the series Z, rather dedicated to the leaders, executives and other professions. This line is we believe the more surprising, consider instead.

The ultraportable of 1.5 Kg enjoys a wide screen of 13.1 inches, all in a definition of 1,680 x 945 pixels, is a true 16/9 format. To work, this format may actually be somewhat confusing to start …

However, the integrated HDMI standard suggests other uses more fun. “We discussed internally.” Beyond the improved definition of Vaio Z compared to the SZ series, the more elongated form has an advantage. Placed right at the back of a seat on an airplane, “there will be less likely to break.”

Indeed, given the size of 13.3 inches and flexibility of the screen SZ, the risk was real in aircraft (and also on trains, particularly when the front passenger seat was leaning backwards.

An integrated data connectivity
In this high-end PC, Sony has incorporated a connection HSDPA, a map GeForce 9300M GS and 4 GB of RAM. The drive can also store up to 320 GB data, while the power saving mode Stamina will no longer require a reboot of the machine systematic, all for an endurance of up to a maximum of 5.5 hours.

Finally, the series Vaio called Z is by far the most expensive of the Japanese manufacturer, since the selling price starts at 1,800 euros, reaching a maximum of 2,300 €. The availability should be effective from half of August 2008.
