The maker of network equipment Nokia Siemens Networks is expected to lower prices in the sector of telecommunications infrastructure. According to the manufacturer, the devaluation rate was due in large part to intensifying competition.

“The market remains extremely competitive and suppliers are not big profits. The price erosion is permanent, it does absolutely not slow down,” said Christian Fredrikson, the group’s director for Asia Pacific, during a interview with Reuters.

Regarding the players in the market for telecommunications network equipment, the Swedish Ericsson holds a leading position, followed by Nokia Siemens and Alcatel-Lucent. However, competition, including Asia is increasingly present. As such, the positions of the trio are threatened by new Chinese players like ZTE and Huawei.

According to the research firm Dell’Oro, Huawei Technologies occupies the first quarter of 2008, the fourth largest market, surpassing two suppliers Nortel Networks and Motorola.
